Meeting with Contractors by the Honorable Commissioner, Ministry for Public Procurement, Project Monitoring and Evaluation, Kano – Comrade Nura Ma’aji Sumaila

In a continued effort to ensure the delivery of quality infrastructure and value for money in all ongoing government projects across Kano State, the Honorable Commissioner, Comrade Nura Ma’aji Sumaila, convened a strategic meeting with a number of contractors currently handling state projects.

The meeting followed a series of inspection visits to various project sites conducted by the Ministry for Public Procurement, Project Monitoring and Evaluation. During these inspections, observations were made regarding the pace, standard, and overall compliance of work with approved specifications.

In line with his proactive approach to project oversight, Comrade Sumaila adopts the practice of inviting contractors for follow-up discussions after such site inspections. This allows for direct engagement on identified issues, clarification of expectations, and reinforcement of the government’s commitment to transparency, accountability, and quality assurance in project execution.

The session proved to be constructive, with contractors responding positively to the feedback and committing to address the areas of concern. The Commissioner reiterated the Ministry’s readiness to support all contractors in achieving timely and high-standard project completion, while emphasizing that non-compliance with quality standards will not be tolerated.
