SERVICOM Directorate Advocates for Stronger Discipline in Private Health Institutions, Calls for Improved Service Charters and Drainage Systems

The SERVICOM Directorate, Kano has reiterated its commitment to enhancing discipline, accountability, and service delivery across key sectors in the state. This was emphasized by the Director and Overseer of the Directorate, Mr. Tahir Garba, during the Directorate’s routine unscheduled monitoring visits to Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs).

During a visit to Giginyu Primary Health Care and other related facilities, the Director observed gaps in discipline among students of private health schools. He stressed the need for stronger disciplinary strategies, noting that in some cases, students from privileged backgrounds appeared less disciplined, despite the high cost of fees in such institutions.

The Directorate further noted that no Service Charter was displayed at the facilities, in line with SERVICOM requirements. Mr. Garba therefore urged the Primary Health Care Management Board to revalidate and cascade service charters across all primary health facilities to strengthen accountability and ensure quality service delivery.

In a related development, the Directorate visited Government Girls’ Secondary School, Giginyu, and Government Arabic Secondary School, Giginyu, where it discovered that both institutions were affected by waterlogging due to poor drainage systems in the area. The situation, particularly at the Girls’ School, calls for urgent attention to safeguard the learning environment and wellbeing of students.

The SERVICOM Directorate reaffirmed its resolve to continue with unscheduled visits to service windows in order to foster transparency, ensure compliance, and promote citizens’ satisfaction in public service delivery.
