*KSSSSMB Strengthens Ties with Kano Emirate*

In a significant step towards enhancing collaboration and educational excellence, the Executive Secretary Kano State Senior Secondary Schools Management Board Honorable Rabiu Sale Gwarzo, paid a courtesy visit to the Emir of Kano, Muhammadu Sanusi II, at the Emir’s Palace.

During the visit, Honorable Gwarzo engaged in fruitful discussions with the Emir on strengthening the partnership between the Board and the Kano Emirate Council, with a focus on promoting education and character development among students in Kano State.

Highlighting the state government’s commitment to education, Honorable Gwarzo referenced the recent declaration of a state of emergency in education as a testament to its dedication to improving the quality of education in Kano State. This initiative demonstrates the government’s resolve to address educational challenges and ensure students receive world-class education.

Gwarzo sought the Emir’s support and guidance in promoting educational initiatives and community development programs implemented by the Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf-led administration, with the expectation that the Emir’s endorsement would further enhance positive change in the lives of students and communities across Kano State.

“We believe the Emir’s endorsement will significantly enhance our efforts to improve education and promote social responsibility in our education system,” Honorable Gwarzo said.

Responding, the Emir of Kano, Malam Muhammadu Sanusi II, reaffirmed his commitment to supporting educational reforms in the state. He pledged his continued partnership with KSSSSMB, acknowledging the state government’s dedication to advancing education.

The Emir lauded the Executive Secretary’s strategic approach and expertise in ensuring growth and development within the Board.

The Kano State Government has signed a N12.7 billion contract with TEC Engineering Company Nigerian Limited for the completion of the Kankare-Karaye road project, which links Tofa, Rimin Gado, Kabo, and Karaye Local Government Areas in Kano North.

The project, initially awarded in 2010 with a budget of N3 billion, has suffered multiple delays and revisions across successive administrations.

Speaking during the contract signing ceremony held in his office, the Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Barrister Haruna Isah Dederi, described the development as a significant step toward revitalizing infrastructure in the state.

“The signing of this contract is a testament to our commitment to improving transportation, boosting economic activity, and enhancing the quality of life for our people,” Dederi said. He emphasized the administration’s determination to complete the project within the agreed timeframe.

The Commissioner for Works, Engineer Marwan Ahmad, revealed that the road construction has undergone five reviews since its inception, with seven bridges already completed. He disclosed that TEC Engineering has been given an eight-month deadline to finish the second phase of the project.

The signing ceremony was witnessed by the Deputy Speaker of the Kano State House of Assembly and the member representing Tofa and Rimin Gado State Constituency. Both legislators urged the contractors to remain committed and mirror the seriousness of the current administration.

They also assured that the State Assembly would exercise its oversight responsibilities to ensure the timely execution of the project in line with contractual obligations.

Engr. Lee Wu, Managing Director of TEC Engineering Company, expressed appreciation to the Kano State Government for entrusting his company with the project. He pledged to deliver quality work and called on traditional rulers and communities to support the initiative for its successful completion.

Representing the traditional leaders from the four benefiting LGAs, the District Head of Karaye and Turakin Karaye, Alhaji Abdullahi Aminu, lauded the government for resuscitating a long-abandoned project.

He noted that the road, once completed, would significantly stimulate economic growth and ease transportation in the region.

The contract signing underscores the administration’s resolve to fulfill its promises and accelerate infrastructural development across Kano State.

Kano state government has pledged its Commitment to Construct the road from Gani, Dagora, Baita, and that of Magami to Kwajale all in Sumaila local government area.

The Commissioner for Rura and Community Development ,Hon Abdulkadir Abdussalam made the plea while receiving the people of Sumaila local government.

Alh Abdulkadir Abdussalam assured that the state government would construct the roads to improve socio-economic activities in the area.

The Commissioner added that the government would soon embark on tour of the 44 local government areas to assess the level of dilapidation of some roads for immediate rehabilitation and Construction in knook and crannies of the state.

He therefore advised the delegation to continue to pray for the present administration under the leadership of Engr Abba Kabir Yusuf to succeed in all its activities for the overall development of the state.

Earlier the leader of the delegation who is also Kano State Commissioner for Project Monitoring and procurement, Alh IRO Maaji Sumaila said they were at the they were at the Rural Ministry to solicit for the Commissioner’s support to construct and rehabilitate some roads in Sumaila area.

In their separate remarks, Malam Tasiu Jafar kwajale and Idris ya’u Danbawa thanked the state Governnor Engr Abba Kabir Yusuf and the Commissioner for Rural and Community Development, Alh Abdulkadir Abdussalam for their Concern to the development of rural areas in the state.

They assured of their continued support and Cooperation to the present administration under the leadership of Engr Abba Kabir Yusuf to enable succeed in executing meaningful development projects that would continue to have positive impact on the lives of people of the state.

The Chairman of Madobi Local Government, Alhaji Suleiman Dan Azumi, has pledged to prioritize healthcare, particularly immunization for children and pregnant women, due to its importance.

The council Chairman disclosed this during the launch of the first phase of the 2025 polio immunization campaign in Koyan Gidan Ayu, Madobi Local Government Area, the Chairman urged parents to continue cooperating with healthcare workers to ensure their children receive polio and other essential vaccinations.

He expressed satisfaction with the collaboration between parents, healthcare workers, and partners like WHO, UNICEF, and Health for Africa.

The Head of Health Department ,Hajiya Wasila Mohammad Usman, emphasized the significance of polio immunization for children under five and pregnant women, stating that approximately 70,000 children would be immunized during the campaign.

Representatives from WHO, UNICEF, and Health for Africa also highlighted the importance of immunization and thanked stakeholders for their cooperation.

The District Head of Madobi, Alhaji Musa Sale Musa Kwankwaso, reaffirmed his support for healthcare initiatives in the area.

The Chairman concluded by inspecting the immunization process and holding an evening meeting to review the campaign’s progress.

KNSG URGES FRIDAY IMAMS TO CHAMPION PATRIOTISM AND SUPPORT SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT

The Kano State Government has called on Friday mosque Imams across the state to use their platforms to promote patriotism, unity, and love for Kano State as part of efforts to ensure sustainable development.

The call was made by the State Commissioner for Information, Comrade Ibrahim Abdullahi Waiya, during the closing ceremony of a two-day sensitization workshop organized for Friday mosque Imams. The workshop was hosted by the Ministry of Information and Internal Affairs in collaboration with the Ministry for Religious Affairs and the Kano State Council of Friday Mosques Chief Imams.

Addressing the participants, Comrade Waiya emphasized that instilling a sense of pride and responsibility among citizens will encourage them to uphold the dignity of the state and avoid actions that could tarnish its image both locally and internationally.

He also delivered an extensive address on the leadership style of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, highlighting the governor’s citizen-centered policies aimed at improving the welfare of the people. Waiya urged the Imams to support these policies by educating their followers and promoting positive conduct that aligns with the state’s developmental goals.

The Commissioner further cautioned religious leaders against statements or actions that could harm their reputation and that of Kano State. He noted that the clerical sector remains one of the most respected institutions in the country and urged Imams to safeguard this honor by upholding high standards in their sermons and public engagements.

Highlighting the achievements of the present administration, Comrade Waiya cited ongoing developmental projects aimed at ensuring good governance, proper management, and the protection of public resources. He also commended Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf for his commitment to supporting Islam, including the construction and renovation of mosques across the state.

The Commissioner assured the Imams of the government’s resolve to improve their welfare so they can continue to carry out their duties with dignity. He urged them to familiarize themselves with government programs and policies to better inform the public and offer constructive advice on initiatives that would benefit both Islam and the people of Kano State.

Speaking on behalf of the participants, the Secretary of the Kano State Council of Friday Mosque Imams, Sheikh Ibrahim Habib Gazawa, expressed gratitude to the Ministry of Information and Internal Affairs for organizing the workshop. He described it as a timely initiative that would enhance the Imams’ ability to communicate effectively with the public and align their messages with the state’s development agenda.

As part of the workshop, several papers were presented, including:

“The Policies of the Kano State Government for Improving Citizens’ Lives and Sustaining Development” by Comrade Ibrahim Abdullahi Waiya.

“The Structure and Implementation of the Annual Budget” by Kano State Commissioner for Planning and Budget, Musa Sulaiman Shanono.

“Strategies for Effective Communication by Scholars to Promote Peace and Community Development” by Dr. Bala Muhammad of the Department of Mass Communication, Bayero University, Kano.

The event concluded with the distribution of certificates of participation to all the Imams who attended the sensitization workshop.

Kano State Government reaffirms commitment to establish Modern Villages.

Kano State Government has reaffirmed Commitment to the provision of Model Villages across the 44 local government areas in the state.

The Commissioner for Rural and Community Development, Hon Abdulkadir Abdussalam disclosed this today while receiving the People of Kumurya Village from Bunkure local government area who paid him a courtesy visit in his office.

Alh Abdulkadir Abdussalam said the Abba Kabir Yusuf administration decided to establish the Model Village to assist residents of
Rural Communities across the state .
He assured that the state government would continue to establish such Villages.
The Commissioner added that the government has already started the construction of a model Village in Dosa, Gabasawa local government area.

Alh Abdulkadir assured the delegation that the government would look into the possibility of establishing a Model Village people at Kumurya to speed up the phase of development in the area.

Earlier, the leader of the delegation, the Village Head of Kumurya, Malam Salisu Musa Kumurya said they were at Commissioner office to Congratulate him on his appointment and solicit the state government assistance to the provision of a Model Village in Kumurya.

*The* *Federal* *Government* *has* *been* *urged* to *consider* *reinstating* *the* *appointment* *of* *a* *National* Amirul Hajj, as *was* *the* *practice* *in* *the* *past* .

His Highness, the Emir of Kano, Malam Muhammad Sanusi II, made this statement today while receiving stakeholders from the Kano State Pilgrims Welfare Board at his residence.

The Emir emphasized the importance of reviving the selection of a National Amirul Hajj, who would serve as the leader of the Nigerian delegation during the annual Hajj pilgrimage. He noted that the concept of Amirul Hajj has its origins from the time of Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him), who encouraged the appointment of leaders to guide groups on such spiritual journeys.

He stressed the need for making the appointment of a National Amirul Hajj a necessary and consistent part of the Hajj exercise.

On his part, the Director General of the Kano State Pilgrims Welfare Board, Alhaji Lamin Rabi’u Danbappa, said they were at the Emir’s palace to invite His Highness to attend the final Hajj demonstration at the Hajj Camp.

Alhaji Lamin Rabi’u added that the Kano State Pilgrims Welfare Board has concluded all necessary arrangements for the flag-off of the airlift of pilgrims scheduled for 13th May 2025.

In his remarks, the Chairman of the Board of Directors, Alhaji Yusif Lawan, expressed deep appreciation to His Royal Highness, Malam Muhammad Sanusi II, for his unwavering commitment to the welfare of Nigerian pilgrims.
