Cibiyar Kasuwanci, Kano

Lately, I started paying attention to most of the A-list billionaires from the northern extraction to see if there’s one or two things I could learn from them.

I love learning from every tribe, industries and places.

From my little findings, I learned four things:

1 — They know how to build generational wealth

2 — Their children, beyond inheriting their father’s wealth also inherit their connections and relationships

3 — They understand that financial power is nothing without the political power

4 — They are deeply rooted in their religion and culture

Take the founder of BUA Group, Alhaji Abdul Samad Rabiu for instance, his father, Sheikh Isyaku Rabiu, was a very wealthy and influential businessman. He leveraged his father’s connections to build a multibillion dollar empire.

How about Alhaji (Dr.) Abdulmunaf Yunusa Sarina? His father, Alhaji Yunusa Sarina was a very wealthy man of his time who played big in the oil and gas, and transport sectors.

He not only picked up his father’s entrepreneurial spirit but also leveraged on his connections. Moving away from his father’s wealth (leaving it for elder brothers), he built his own business empire around the education, aviation, oil and gas, transport and haulage sectors.

How about our very own Alhaji Aliko Dangote? His maternal great-grand and grand father were wealthy. When it was time to build his own wealth, he took a loan of $500,000 (N500,000 equivalent) from his uncle.

His daughter is a big part of his business empire today and she has shown so much capacity in the management of the company. Some southerners still believe that only their sons should be introduced into the family business.

No matter how wealthy these people are, their affiliation with their culture and religion remains intact.

You may see them as apolitical billionaires but that doesn’t mean they don’t play high-level politics. They carefully pick the top contestants in Nigeria or at the state-levels where they have special interest and donate to them.

In most cases, they also have aides, friends and brothers who are occupying strategic political positions. Interestingly, they service these relationships very well.

If you are a southerner who wants to build wealth in Nigeria, learn a thing or two from these people.

— Being proud of your culture and religion doesn’t remove anything from you. I’m unapologetic about my Christian Faith. Whether you are a Christian, Muslim, Traditionalist, etc., be proud of your belief.

— Even if you don’t have interest in politics, have friends, aides and family members in politics. A man with political power can mess you up. As a businessperson with great prospect, don’t play politics like street urchins do.

— Build something your children can scale. If your children are of age, bring them into the business. Family business will outlive any other model you can think of.

I hope you picked up a thing or two from this article.

My name is Emenike Emmanuel Chidiebube and I’m committed to helping you build generational wealth through real estate investment (be it physical or digital).

GENERAL COUNCIL RESOLUTIONS

The Council deliberated on several critical issues:

1. Imflamatory Remarks by Former Governor Ganduje and Deputy Senate President Barau Jibrin

The Council expressed deep concern over the recent comments, apparently posing security threat, especially a public declaration to recruit 12,000 individuals under a proposed religious militia organization named Khairul Nas.

Council noted that:

The statements were inflammatory, reckless, and capable of undermining the security efforts of both the State Government and the Federal Government.

Within 48 hours of the utterances, suspected bandits attacked border communities—raising serious suspicions.

Council Resolved:

To appreciate Sen. Bola Ahmed Tinubu led Federal Government and security agencies for their continuous support to address the security challenges

To call for the immediate investigation and arrest of the former Governor Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, for attempting to create an illegal and unlawful militia group

To caution public figures against making divisive and inciting statements.

To reassure citizens of government’s unwavering commitment to peace and security.

2. Housing Allocation in Kwankwasiyya and Amana Cities

Council appreciated allottees who complied with directives to occupy their houses and reaffirmed that the earlier 31st December deadline, remains in effect.

3. Awards and Recognitions Presented to His Excellency, the Governor

Several organizations presented Awards of Excellence to the Governor, which include:

-Association of Chairmen of Local Government Service Commissions in Nigeria

-Federal Ministry of Planning and Budget, Agriculture and Health (Senegal)

-HATMAN

-Society of Nigerian Broadcasters

-Pharmaceutical Society of Nigeria

-Kano Correspondents’ Chapel

-Kautal Pulaku Fulbe Association (Bauchi)

-Sudu Baba Fulbe

-Abba Gida-Gida Hasken Matan Kwankwasiyya – Best Performing Governor in Northern Nigeria (2025)

-Primary Health Care Coordination Forum

-Nigerian Dental Association

-GML Directors

It is worthy to note that, approvals and resolutions granted at the council meeting, reaffirm the commitment of the Kano State Government under the leadership of His Excellency, the Executive Governor, to infrastructure expansion, institutional strengthening, service delivery, and security.
